Any recommendations for favorite acoustic sets? So far I've found and enjoyed 2/13/70 Fillmore East (late show) and 5/2/70 Binghampton.

Any other suggestions?

There's Alfred...

And 9/20/70, arguably the greatest acoustic set of all-time...

A stunningly gorgeous rendition of El Paso. I just love the Mariachi guitars!

I love everything about this one, but I think my favorite track is the super-rare Tell It To Me (Cocaine Blues)...awesome!

In addition to the fine suggestions above, I'd add 10/10/80 at the Warfield. This has always been my go-to acoustic set from 1980.

I can't top the 1970 sets, but I also like this Phil and Friends set. It gets a lot of love, so worth mentioning. No Drummers, it's just before their Fall tour of 1994 started. Sounds excellent, good singing, and has later day songs Lazy River Road and Throwing Stones along with some good old GD.

many of the good ones are already mentioned. 9-20 is probably the best, although it would be nice to get a version of that without the fades. 5-1-70 is a personal favorite and the San Diego show with the El Paso is really cool. I am also a big fan of the early 12-26-69 set. However if i may combine my answer with a response to Cliff's query about releases, i would love to see a release of the New Orleans shows from 1980. Some really bad auds are available here, but they do sound kind of different than the sets from Warfield and Radio City that these shows were sandwiched between. They appear to be in the archive based on snippets that have appeared on the Taper's Section at dead.net.

The 12/26/69 show was great. I was there. First concert ever. 30 miles away in Ft. Worth "Canned Heat" was playing at Panther Hall. I can't recall the weather, but I know that some of the Dead were late to the show. Turns out that Canned Heat never made it to the Ft. Worth show. I had to make a choice and went with Grateful Dead. What a choice!

The McFarlin Auditorium wooden set that you pointed out is pretty special Larry. I guess my favorite acoustic set from the 80's has to be the Mill Valley Recreation Center benefit with amazingly jammed out rendtions of Cassidy and Bird Song...

I also have a fondness for the Rambler Room. If memory serves, the lineup was messed, as well as the instruments. I think that they played with borrowed equipment. If I were less lazy, I know that information is in the archive...

Ha! I wish! No, I didn't see my first show until summer 1990! But yes, it is the Rambler Room. These amazing and intimate photos are from a link that AltheaRose posted a while back...

The great ones have been covered above, but there are many 1970 shows that have some "acoustic esque" (demi-electric as Bob said) tunes in the first set...eg, I love 6-7-70.

Alfred is a real winner.
